‘1 Man 365 Films 365 Days’ – Day 316

#314/ 365 – ‘Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans’ (1927) – 94 mins
IMDb Challenge #193 / 250 – Ranked #153 – Lovefilm

In a lakeside village, ‘the Man’ is seduced away from his wife by the vampy ‘Woman From the City’. He contemplates murder, but is overcome by conscience and reaffirms his love for his wife on a trip to the city, though their lives are imperilled by a storm that rises as the couple are on their way home.

Whilst F. W. Murnau, Sunrise contains sequences of surreal moments with poignancy, it lacks great depth in its psychological elements of the film to be totally immersive – that said, it’s still a recommended watch for being an imaginative film from the silent era of cinema.
