‘1 Man 365 Films 365 Days’ – Day 162

Cheltenham Film Club tonight greatly enjoyed an exclusive preview evening of Cineworld new venture The Screening Rooms.

At this event we were meant to be watching ‘Potiche’ but a last minute change resulted in us being presented with…

#122 / 365 – β€˜The Conspirator’ – 123 mins
Cinema Challenge #48 / 115

The true story of Mary Surratt (Robin Wright), the lone female charged as a co-conspirator in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. As the whole nation turns against her, she is forced to rely on her reluctant lawyer to uncover the truth and save her life.

The Conspirator is the debut film of the The American Film Company, whose mission is to create films that are historically accurate. With first rate cast of Robin Wright, Evan Rachel Wood, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Justin Long, Toby Kebbell, Kevin Kline and Tom Wilkinson – it is the central performance of James McAvoy as defence lawyer Frederick Aiken that stands out from the crowd in this solid and riverting period piece of courtroom drama that has fine attention to detail in its Civil War surrondings, from director Robert Redford.
